They re-vamped the old 10,000 leagues under the sea to a Little Mernmaid character area.... she sits in a grotto and you can get pictures with her....
They do have Character Dining with the Princesses.... One is at Cinderella's Castle and the Other is In Epcot at a retuarant in the Norway Pavillon. Not Sure if Ariel is there but I do know that it is the hottest ticket as Character dining goes.... can resrve 90 days in advance and it sells out within 15 minutes most mornings

Ariel doesn't come walking around like the other characters do mainly because she doesn't have legs but you can see her at:
Ariel's Grotto at Magic Kingdom, This is also the only Meet and Greet area with her.
Voyage of The Little Mermaid at MGM Studios, a cute little show based on the original film.
Disney's Stars and Motor Cars Parade at MGM Studios, just like any other parade she's sitting on her float where you can take a picture of her.
Disney Dreams Come True Parade at Magic Kingdom, once again another parade.
Fantasmic! at MGM Studios, Ariel is seen twice in this show, once while "dancing" with Eric on a float during the princess dream sequence, and another at the end when Steam Boat Willie comes out she is hanging off the back of the boat.

No, Airel does no walk around due to various reasons, it is dangerous, and she may slip on those flippers :p... Well, if your looking to find the littl mermaid in disneyworld, check Ariel's Grotto in The Magic Kingdom in fantasyland for Ariel meet and greets :D You can also find ariel in MGM's fireworks show, Fantasmic, during the princess portion of the presentation :D, ALSO, The Voyage of the Little Mermaid show at MGM is a good place to meet Ariel. In The Magic Kingdoms' parade, Ariel sits on a float.. and at MGM (again) She is featured in the parade

One of my coworker's brought pictures in of his family at some sort of Princess luncheon that they attended (if you're interested in this, it sounds like you would want to get info ahead of time). I seem to recall the Little Mermaid in the pictures along with Princess Aurora (sleeping beauty) and the other princesses. Maybe it was from the period in which she had legs:)

Ariel's Grotto - located near the rear of the Magic Kingdom, by Toontown. Ariel sits in her shell throne and invites children to visit with her as she gives autographs.
The Little Mermaid Show - a live stage show complete with puppetry and animatronics! Located inside the Animation Courtyard at the Disney Studios. My favorite part - the floating bubbles makes you truly feel like you are "part of her world!"

No, you will only find her sitting in her grotto and sitting at parades.
