aggressive guppies?

I have 4 guppies but they have recently become aggressive towards each other? 2 espically have been acting very strange.. chasing each other round the tank and 'fanning tail out and swimming backwards very quickly'..(Hope that is a good enough description) Any particular reason?

Im pretty sure i have 3 females and one male

If you only have one male, I'd be willing to bet it's one of the ones that's always involved in either the chasing or being chased. What you're describing is mating behavior, the male is displaying for the females by spreading out his tail and doing the odd swimming behavior. Are there males and females? Because that sounds to me like breeding behavior. How many males and females do you have? If you don't have at least 2 females for every male, the males will literally bang the females to death.
