the closest at the moment to being invisible is to use stealth paint so it wouldnt bee seen on radar.

Not to be completely invisible no, at least not yet.
However there HAS been some impressive (recent) experiments about gettng light to bend around certain materials that can then be used to move light around the object you weish to conceal and then placeit back into position.
The problems are it works well (ish) if looked at through a monocular but not when viewed with both eyes as it doesn't (yet) handle the 3-d aspect too well - you get parallax problems.
Same sort of results with covering theovject you wish to hide with giant dispay panels all artound and having cameras on the other side - from specific points, it CAN work very well - allowing something to be quite well disguised, BUT if you change the angle of viewing, then you start to see distortions. Move a littlemore still and the whole things starts to be obvious.
Give it time and this will get closer to being practical as opposed to "sort-of, in theory, at-a-push-in-a-way".

Not now, but with future developments in science and tech, I think it'd be quite possible.
This is a far cry from a true invisibility/ cloaking device, but as the study report says, it's a small step in that direction. A team of Duke researchers were able to shield an object from microwave detection.

I've thought about this one before and the only downside i can see is that you'd get rammed up the @rse at traffic lights when you stopped.
For some that might not be a bad thing you understand :)
