Why is it that every time I post a question about getting things done at a poverty level of income, someone comes on and posts that we should get a job, why do they assume that just because someone is poor that they don't work their fingers off just like a lot of other people.
I worked hard all my life till it literally broke me. and I've always lived on the "poor" level, 3 kids and single mom, don't work well toward financial success. what's the deal? anyone know.?? and please dont be mean, just to be mean.

We live in a nearly Godless world today. Whose fault is this? Ours of the generations before the last 3 or 4 generations. I brought my children up in the 60's and 70's and some bozo named Spock who claimed to be a specialist in child rearing was telling everyone you should never punish your children and correct them in a very gentle manor. What a crock. I raised my children like I was raised with love and spankings when they did wrong. Many times I was given advise of how I was doing so very wrong in doing this. I have one friend who followed Spock's way and his child is in prison and has been for over 20 years now. The boy was never taught the difference between right and wrong when it would have meant something to him. This is just one instance and easy enough to think it means nothing. Wrong!
Anyway, the idea of dealing with anyone who is not living the TV life of plenty of money and a wonderful life is looked down upon. They are uneducated and are a leach to society and this is the mindset for the generation today. For anyone who didn't have the same opportunities as they are considered lazy and have no motivation to get themselves out of poverty and into the mainstream of society.
In this world today it takes 2 incomes to just live. If you want to live well, at least one of these incomes must generate more than fifty thousand a year. Even still, 2 incomes still is required. It's much easier to ignore poverty and those around them who must live in this level and they think they brought this on themselves.
The whole problem is these people today who are in the mainstream of the operation of this world are for the most part a Godless group. They think they are so very smart and being an Atheist is so much easier than belief in a God who gives them rules to live by. Following their own rules they can do as they please and this is also why drugs and crime have been on the rise since the 60's. They have no morals and our generation are the ones who raised these men and women. When I say our generation, I'm talking about those of us who are in our 60's. The problem is it's too late now for us to change anything. Our grandchildren are running things now and their mothers and fathers are just like them. We are the dummies now and we know nothing. They have learned to kick those who are down and take from those who are trusting enough to be cheated.
I can only see things getting worse and worse as time goes by.

Being a single mom myself I understand where you're coming from. And the funny thing about it is the father works under the table, takes winter vacations of 3 months at a time and still qualifies for legal aid when HE takes me to court whining about how he can't afford to pay for his daughter and sends his new wife which he married while he and I were still married for. It's not just the individual person but the system is severely messed up.

Sorry to hear of the nasty responses you got. Best of luck next time around.

Unless they have been through it they just can't understand it,and when so many people complain of poverty while they do nothing to better themselves it's understandable why the knee jerk reaction to all questions is to just assume its another bum complaining

They forget the term "working poor", and there are PLENTY Americans who can call themselves that.
