You can bring back anything that is not perishable. No fruit or veges, etc. Customs will also confiscate stuff like Chinese medicine (Kampo yaku) unless you have the necessary paperwork or permits, etc. There is a $ value limit also, so you can't bring back electronic equipment in bulk. I think that limit is around a few thousand dollars worth of stuff.

Yes and no. Like you, I ordered about 50.00 worth of candies which included pockeys, gummys, gum, chocolate etc.. From a companie in SHINJUKU, at the airport they tore into the package and threw the candy away. But a different time, I ordered from a different company that was from OSAKA , I ordered the same ammount, and they had no problem, spent 1 day in customs.
