I hurt my big toe nail...walking down a hill at nighttime. I didn't see this small rock that stopped the forward motion of my foot and therefore sending all that force onto my big toe nail in the direction as if trying to push it back into my foot. It hurt for the day and it doesn't hurt any more. The nail was not raised off the nail bed. and 90% of the nail is black from left to right. Here's a picture of it: http://wolfsfiles.googlepages.com/blackNail.JPG

My black nail is growing or being pushed out...i trimmed it a few weeks ago. First time since i trimmed it the day of the axcident to prevent further pain from the boot. I'm thinking its the undamaged part of my nail that is responsible for this forward motion / growth of the nail.

The thing is i can feel a small gap between the back of the black half of the nail and my toe, as labeled in the picture. It's like only part of the nail is growing.

Will i be getting the whole nail to grow back in unison anytime soon, or later lol?

I agree with the other answer.
It needs to fall off first as you've damaged so much of it this nail is now dead.(hence the colour) However a new one will grow in it's place but it will take a really long time. Make sure you take good care of it during this process or it could get much worse.
