I'm with you on this--I'm no fan of the sixaxis crap. They had to take out the rumble function for its benefit... If you try using it in Marvel: Ultimate Alliance, you will go insane and end up tossing the remote through a window. I can confirm MUA has an option to turn off this functionality--in fact most of the launch games do as well. COD3 also uses it for close-combat, but it can be turned off (choosing between triangle, X, O, and square are just so much easier...). Such a horrible feature... Sony really missed the mark on this one. As far as XMB settings, there is NO master setting to turn off the motion detection for all games. You'll just have to live with it and check your settings for each game. At least the settings should save, forcing you to set it once for each game...
And MR. Author, you are indeed correct, no ps2 controller back in 1995 : ) It was definitely late in 2000, because I can remember that the PS2 launch was the sole reason I failed my second term in college. 4/4 failed courses ain't bad!! Ugh.

There isn't a way of working a PS3 controller with a 360, unless you change the internal mumbo jumbo. The PS3 has different buttons, giving each one a purpose, these purposes change in games, but the overall circuit gives each button a command. Even with the buttons sorted out, there's a matter of shape, and the xbox live dashboard/guide button. (To my knowledge) the PS3 controller doesn't have an extra button apart from the R2, L2 etc... so one of these would most probably be functioned for the xbox button. Even if all of these specific needs are tended to, getting used to the 360's button commands (such as A, B, X, Y, Back etc...) would be more difficult. Over all, it would be too difficult and time consuming, when you could just go buy a 360 controller (or get one with the xbox itself). 2nd Q: It wuld depend on what game. :)

Check the game to see if there's an option to turn it off. I read somewhere that games should allow you the option of whether or not you want to use the Sixaxis.

Ew. First of all, Ps3's are the most advanced gaming system available. You can use a Ps2 controller that has a wire if you would like to live in 1995.

There aren't really any games that use the motion sensing out right now, and if they do, it's very minimal. Usually the game will have an option to turn it off though.

most games that will support the motion-sensing technology will give you an OPTION to use it or not...for example in motorstorm, you can either tilt the controller to steer your car or you can go into options, turn it off, and then simply use a joy stick to control the car...
