Addictions for sure. But what about the innocents affected by
those with addictions? Partners, children? What about those with serious emotional problems who can't help themselves?
Do you know we pay trillions of dollars to help the underpriviledged
in this country, only to have the people who are supposed to help them leave them out on the streets to die? Because they take a personal dislike to someone or have a "bad hair" day? And they don't even care?
Shouldn't Government set the example? Instead of justifying negligence by complaining about paperwork and being
back-logged?
I'm not trying to kill them like they're killing us. It's the stinking attitude we have to deal with that needs confrontation. And if they make a mistake, it needs to be corrected.
Stand up! Get organized. Use confrontation, but be reasonable and fair.

I have been there it is no picnik. It was scary. you are hungry cold or hot. I think the goverment instead of ignoring the problem they need to address the issues and help these ppl. Not all of them asked to be homeless some get a chance like me most do not. Our country does not want to see the homeless they look at them a pest. I hate that . If this country can spend billions on a war then they can spend millions to take care of our own ppl. We can do something to lessen this problem. And not just feed them and send them on their way or give them shelter because it is to cold or hot. The ppl of this country must demand that the goverment take notice. Look at our southern states it is still a mess what happen to all that money? I know a lot of it was wasted.

Some of the hard realities behind homelessness is the fact that a very high percentage of the population in this country is one paycheck from being there themselves. It isn't just drugs, it is also mental problems and low paying jobs. Most Americans don't earn enough to pay all of their bills every month so they juggle them. Then if someone in the household looses their job, they had better find another one right away or they could face being homeless. It is the single moms who aren't getting child support. It is the abuse victims. It is the people with mental problems that won't take their medications because they feel that there is nothing wrong with them. It is the disabled veterians that can't find a job.

This is what I think the problems are. Another problem is that everyone who sees a homeless person standing on a corner holding up a sign that says "hungry" on it, thinks that person is a druggie and it is their own fault that they are hungry and homeless. How many of you justified not making eye contact and not giving a dime to that person, by telling yourself that they would just use it for drugs or alcohol? Not me. If I pull up to an intersection and there is someone standing there holding a sign, if I can get to them without endangering myself or them, I give them a few dollars. Because there but for the grace of God go I. I have no idea how mauch money I have handed out over the years but I haven't missed one dime of it. I still ate dinner at night and payed my electric bill on time.

Cost of living too high, inadequate income, minimum wage too low, and not enough good paying jobs for the low income earners.
