If one or two makeup lines worked for everybody, there wouldn't be hundreds of them out there. Finding a good foundation and powder is going to depend a lot on your skin type and what kind of look you want to achieve. Some people have oily skin and want a matte finish that's not too heavy...others have dryer skin and want a dewey finish with more coverage.

The best place I've found is www.makeupalley.com.

You have to register but it's free. You can search products by line or by type, for instance, foundation, powder, concealer etc. You can read reviews and ratings of products from real people with every type of skin imaginable.

If that doesn't work for you or you don't want to take the time, you can go to most makeup counters and find help there. Having worked for both Estee Lauder and Chanel, I enjoyed helping people find what was right for them. Usually going during the week is your best bet because they are slower and have more time to do one on ones.

Don't be afraid to ask how long they have been doing what they do, and how they were trained. And remember you are not obligated to buy anything and everything they put on you either. If you like the look, try one or two things at a time and try it for a good 7-10 days to see how it reacts to your skin. Also remember, department stores take refunds and do exchanges if you don't find your correct formula the first time. Just save your receipt.

Hope this helps!

Mary Kay has a creme-to-powder foundation. It goes on as a creme and dries to a powder finish. Go to marykay.com to find a local consultant. They have have foundations for oily skin or dry skin and the consultant can help you find your perfect shade.

Maybelline, L'Oreal Paris, CoverGirl, and Almay has good ones. For a more shimmery powder, try CoverGirl Loose Powder in Translucent Medium(depends on your skin tone).

I like Mary Kay Cosmetics best but Prescriptives and Lancome are hard to beat. These brands cost more but are worth it and you don't use as much like you would with a cheaper brand.

I like Cover Girl, but it depends on your skin what works best for you. Most makeup brands also come in types specialized for certain skin types like oil free for oily skin.
