about time huh?
Convinced this is their moment, tens of thousands marched Saturday in an anti-war demonstration linking military families, ordinary people and an icon of the Vietnam protest movement in a spirited call to get out of Iraq.
Celebrities, a half-dozen lawmakers and protesters from distant states rallied in the capital under a sunny sky, seizing an opportunity to press their cause with a Congress restive on the war and a country that has turned against the conflict.
Marching with them was Jane Fonda, in what she said was her first anti-war demonstration in 34 years.
"Silence is no longer an option," Fonda said to cheers from the stage on the National Mall. The actress once derided as "Hanoi Jane" by conservatives for her stance on Vietnam said she had held back from activism so as not to be a distraction for the Iraq anti-war movement, but needed to speak out now.

yes, I did attend..along with about 60 others from Columbus, Ohio on a bus. 3000 buses came..I heard some from Kansas spent 23 hours on a bus to get there. Knowing how uncomfortable this is and how you get little to no sleep, this shows how much many Americans do care and want to be there to speak out..their dedication to this just cause.
It was a very enthusiastic bunch of people of all ages and races and states. Crowd estimates are from 100,000 to 400,000. I found it very hard to hear the speakers as they were a lot of groups off to the side chanting, dancing, speaking, and cheerleading (that's what it looked like) who were VERY vocal at the same time as the speakers on stage so one was getting voices from 2 or 3 sides, making it impossible to hear what anyone was saying.
Even though I moved several times, it was always a new group conflicting, but still it wass good to hear so many young people being vocal and enthusiastic and passionate.
So I was just content to be there amoung thousands of others looking at the old and young and diversity of signs and costumes and banners. I did hear snippits of Jane Fonda saying her daughter and two grandchildren were there, but she and Cynthia Mckinney were just a couple of those I heard somewhat. I had really wanted to see Tim Robbins, Susan Sarandon, and Danny Glover but could not see or hear them.
I was also late due to use having to take subway and walk a long distance (they didn't want buses in the area)and consequently missed Dennis Kuncinich who was the one I wanted to hear most.
It is always nice to be among a group of like minded people. This is the 5th rally I attended in DC and I also went to an antiwar one in New York and many local ones..some antiwar and some antiBush and some for things like progressive radio and universal health care, etc. I am an activist.
. This seemed about equal in size to the March 17th one last year where they dropped rabbit virus on the protesters (according to freepress.org) and other online sources. There was a helicopter that kept circling March 17th..we thought he was just spying or counting crowd size, but I now think he may have been dropping this virus (government grade..never seen in washington before) on us. When a helicopter circled us several times yesterday, I found myself wondering if they were dropping something on us again.
It was an exhausting day, but it is important to let our voices to be heard by congress that we voted you in for the purpose of stopping the war. Bush usually leaves town when they have these things, but this time we focused on congress and marched there instead of by the white house/washington monument where it normally was..this change of location put us by smithsonian museums and I was able to see musuem of American Indians since we had some time left.
It was hard on me personally being older and disabled. On the way up I got sick and vomited and then had maliase, weakness, and fever during the march so it was hard on me physically personally..of all the times to get sick. My knees were aching and it took a lot out of me, but I felt I should be there.

Next big one is March 17th.

I was in spirit , The Iraq war is choatic our troops our dying and bush plans to send 21,000 more troops which will not do a thing to stop terrorists. We are wasting our money and man power terrorism is something you can't beat , we need to take that into fact. I say just form the government in Iraq and get out of there we have done a lot for iraq so far. The terrorists will always be around killing osama bin laden will do nothing. I mean taking out saddam was good but it also distabilized the country of Iraq. I think the united states took the wrong approach and bush & cheney should be held accountable.

Jane Fonda she climb back into her hole. People are wasting their time. We'll be out of Iraq in two years, not overnight. Like they made a statement the government knows how we feel. But it ain't happening because a bunch of Jackasses went to Washington. They made themselves feel good. Congress and the Senate could give a crap. The million man march really impacted black America huh? Wake up

ABC pronounced no such element. The D.C. police pronounced no such element. the place oh the place are you getting your concepts? What i detect incredibly humorous is that the "organizers" are circulating a image exhibiting a great crowd that stretches all the thank you to sixteenth highway, on an extremely sunny day. The day of "the march" it became overcast, and the team somewhat stretch to third highway, in accordance to locals. And homes erected in 2004 at the instant are not contemporary interior the image.

I was not going to comment on this one but when I saw that it got a star I looked to see who gave it...big surprise it was the very person asking the question. That explains it all about that question and the non-thinking individual asking it, of course he you think it is interesting but what does others think! Keep living in your own world and validating your wacko theory's. Liberals must come up with facts and stop trying to make things look like something there are not. You can have that traitor Jane Fonda, with losers like that on your side I am so happy for our side!!!

I had the opportunity to get "Hanoi" Janes autograph a few months ago in Tunica, Mississippi. I am so proud to have told her "No thanks!" She's a no talent fraud and a traitor.
