Smegma is a sticky, white substance that often has an unpleasant smell. If a guy is not circumcised — if his penis has a foreskin — smegma can form under the foreskin, if the shaft and glans (head) of the penis are not cleaned properly. Smegma is formed by oils produced by the body and bacteria that feed on the oil.

Hope this information helps!

The production of smegma is normal and maybe even beneficial in small amounts (so says some researchers). Regardless, in large amounts it can make the area more prone to redness, irritation, or infection.

Ideally you'll want to clean your foreskin every day during a shower. Pull back your foreskin all the way until the glans (penis head) is completely exposed and wash the area with water and mild soap like any other part of your body. This should take care of it. If you still have smegma hours later (and some guys get more smegma than others), you can reduce it further by retracting your foreskin while you pee and wipe away any excess uring before letting your foreskin cover the glans again.

The redness could be due to a lot of things. You could have rubbed the area raw (during masturbation, sex, or whatnot), or it could be due to the smegma, or the soap you're using. Worst case scenario is that you have mild balanitis or yeast infection, both of which are easily treatable with antifungal creams. If the redness doesn't go away with proper washing and hygiene, or it gets worse in a few days, you might want to see a doctor. See link for more info.

Sounds like you might have a mild yeast infection. You need to keep the penis clean and apply a vaginal cream to the penis two times a day for a week and that should clear up the infection. The vaginal cream is readily available at any drug store and don't be ashamed as guys can get a yeast infection also.

no, smegma is the normal accumulation of 'sweat' along with the urine residue from whizzing...make sure that you retract the foreskin back every time you shower and wash with a mild soap (dial or zest) to keep it clean...the redness may be from irritation...
good luck

'Every day or two days' is not enough cleaning to keep this area smell-free.

You should improve your personal hygiene and shower morning and night taking care to wash under your foreskin thoroughly.
Smegma is normal in uncircumcised guys but need that extra bit of care.
