If he went to jail for his buddy, he's a jerk. You have to live your life in a smart, safe way and find a way to go to college.
Good luck

It sure seems that you have a good head on your shoulders. Just keep this in mind, the decisions you make while you're young can affect you for life. If you're friends don't share the same ambitions as you.....then don't let them sway you. If you feel that they're going to affect you, then maybe it's time to leave them be, or at least make a stand for what you want in your life. This is the time that you have to think about yourself. Don't sacrifice your ambitions or your future for some people who don't have any. Support your brother in his needs, but don't date guys from jail. If you date anyone at this point, make sure they have the same hopes and dreams that you do. I wish you the best of luck in the future.

Emmie, your brother is a man and he will be alright, he made his choice and he knew what he was doing. Don't worry about him, he knows what he's doing.

As for you, when you go to college, YES WHEN you go to college, you'll find it's a completely different atmosphere than from highschool. Lets imagine your friends decide to go to college, you'll hardly ever see them anyway...there are so many different classes for one single subject that it's so hard to try to make your schedules work to be together all the time. Plus, you'll probably all have different majors. I spend over 4 hours every night doing homework...so believe me, it's all part of growing up, you have to rely on yourself to succeed.

You'll deal with it, we all do. Eventually you'll find your new groove and be on your way. You just have to make the decision that you'll go to college. That's all you have to do. Decide and apply. Your friends might feel inspired after you take the leap...you should take the lead for once and have people see how successful they can be if they only try. Be a leader, not a follower and I wish you all the best.

Listen to your instincts because they are usually right. Find some other friends that have more in common with you. You can be friendly just stop hanging out with them. You could tell them that you need to take your studding more seriously. You do not need to go to those kind of parties.
