Well, "pop" music is popular music, so it can be of many varieties. There are really two types, though, being as follows: today's pop, like Kelly Clarkson, or in the past, The Beatles. They represent music many people like, that may be extremely catchy. It may not appeal to subgenre followers, like heavy metal or rap, but it attracts the mainstream.

I have the same problem. I pretty much listen to Kpop and Jrock all the time and everyone gets annoyed and me calling me a wannabe and all that crap. My family thinks I'm a freak but seriously, people need to expand their music. Music is music so everyone can enjoy it and in a way understand it, well you don't need to understand music to like it. Also I agree, people forget that you do listen to 'normal' music as well. For me it's not that I want to be Asian and it's not my fault I enjoy it. But yes I understand where you're coming from - I suppose you can just ignore those who confront you of being different, where's the fun in being the same?
