RE:
Are there any professional sports in the world that have mixed-gender teams?

There are any number of sports that allow men and women to compete on equal footing....the question needs to be a little more specific....for example if a man and woman ride different horses in the same race for the same owner are they part of a team?....Danica Partick is mostly certainly part of a racing team even though she competes as an individual...mixed doubles in everything from tennis, to squash to badminton..I won't even mention bowling, croquet or endurance riding...anyway just some thoughts....

Max: nice sentiment, but if you can't understand why women couldn't play in the NFL, NBA or NHL, then you're not a sports fan.

Whatever skills and coordination women may have, the men they would be competing against would be larger, faster and stronger. Even in tennis - the men serve harder and faster. I think Serena and/or Venus come close, but they're serve and return isn't as powerful as most of the male players. At least in tennis, you have a chance for skill to overcome those physical limitations, which is why mixed doubles isn't all about the men on the teams.

Its sad, I can't think of, or any good reasons why not.
"separate but equal" kind of mentality, outdated and stupid..good question...

and to add, things like BMX and skateboarding...that has no excuse.
And MBL..If spud could why not a women? All sports are not about bulk, ....real muscle, speed, coordination, and skill in the game are more important than height. If it was about height and strength make limits on those things and exclude any who don't make it, not just women.
I suppose since people from Africa are more often tall and sometimes stronger, we should not let white men play basketball.....simple logic.
simple prejudice

In the fifties through seventies, roller derby had men and women on the same team, although they played in alternate periods. Men and women did not compete against each other, but their scores were added for the team.

Roller derby today is all women.
