Anyone have a story about a situation where you lost your first chance and you never get a second chance and it is a regret that lives on with you?

I was dating a girl at the time and it was fun and all, but not going to go anywhere. Her best friend was witty, smart, cute, and a whole bunch of other good adjectives. We got together one night and chemistry happened.
However, her loyalty to her friend shut it down and we never had a chance for it to go anywhere. Funny thing is, I would have married her and I think we would have been very comfortable growing old together. I never had a second chance - and the other girl, I can't even remember her name, and I broke up shortly after that.
Regret? Maybe not. But I will wonder how things may have been if it could have worked out.

yes we( mom , brother and me ) joined my father after a 9 years of separation, we thought he got changed to the better but we found out that he changed to the worst.
