I have been having regular protected sex with my bf. However, is it possible that i can have a negative result and still be pregnant? How long does it take after conceiving to show positive results?

I have irregular periods so it's very hard to determine whether i missed a period because even before i started having sex my periods could come 3 months late

Make note of the 1st day of your last period. If you miss the period after that, take a pregnancy test and follow the instructions explicitly - meaning your morning stream is the best to use. If you are still not satified with the results, talk to your doctor.
There is no such thing as protected sex. Every time you have sex you are taking the chance of becoming pregnant. And it doesn't matter the birth control you are using.

Well, a negative result is about 95% accurate after your missed period (and a positive is 99.5% accurate anytime). You need to wait at least 19 days after the possible conception before testing, because sperm can live for up to 5 days in you, and then it can take 14 days before there is enough hcg in your system to show up on the test. If you have already missed your period or are within a few days of it, try testing with a couple different brands because they have different sensitivity levels. But bear in mind that even the tests that say they give you accurate results 5 days before missed period actually are only 51% accurate at that time. They are most aaccurate after the period is missed. Good luck!

Sometimes you can get a positive results a couple of days before your period is due (depending on the brand of test that you take and how sensitive it is). To be safe, always wait until the first day of your expected period. It should be pretty accurate then.

you can take a pregnancy test two weeks after conceiving, how ever it's better for you to take a blood test after your period is due . I took a pregnancy test18 days after conception it came out negative, but i'm still late for my period,so i'll be taking that blood test on monday.

Usually about 10 days at the earliest. This early you need to use first morning urine for sure.
