If you arev given the structure, then look for a carboxyl group (acid) or an amine group (basic). Don't let the big structure freak you out...just focus on the functional groups.

no hydrophilic/hydrophobic has no longer something to do with acid and base u r spectacular-Acids have a bigger H+ together as bases have a bigger OH+. acid and bases make water yet do no longer require it and u r spectacular - bigger electronegativity encourages loose H+
