I'm a black American and have plenty of African friends. I love meeting all kinds of people from all walks of life, and have no problem at all with Africans. It's funny that you ask if black Americans feel connected to Africans, because many black Americans wonder if Africans feel connected to black Americans. I feel like I can relate to everyone. PEACE.

I have never heard of or witnessed negative behavior of Black Americans to Africans! What you experienced must have been an isolated incident. Everyone I know and have ever known has considered Africans to be African Americans when they live in America. When Black Americans want to describe a particular Black person that has an African accent or is known to have come from Africa, then we call them African just to clarify. Maybe the ones in New York had an argument that went bad and got ugly. That's just human behavior. We have always been connected and interested in the African culture and what better way to find out than to ask an African American who is from Africa. Sorry you were a victim to that.

I'm Black American and 1/4 Creek Indian and no I don't feel connected to Africans. Why, because I have no clue which country my African ancestors are from. Many Black African countries/tribes are cultural enemies and sold each other to the Dutch into slavery.

I feel connected to my Creek roots because my Mother is half Creek, I know where my people are, how they got there and their history.

I would love to know more of my African roots but that is very difficult.

Most African Americans feel a very strong connection with the people of Africa. However, there are some who Identify with the masters of this land and view Africans the same way the masters do. This seemingly division amongst BLACKS all over the world is merely an orchestration of those who exploit them. Most African Americans are very interested in Africa and Africans. They want to know primarily which tribes their ancestors descended from and that sort of thing. Generally, most African Americans admire their African brothers and sisters.
On the other hand, some Africans from the motherland ignore African Americans and sometimes act as though African Americans are not REAL Africans. Some of them treat African Americans the same way many white people do.
We (Blacks throughout the world) are ONE PEOPLE. others have us divided and fighting amongst ourselves, we (all black people) need to get our act together, and come together because what happens to one group of BLACKS anywhere is happening to us all. LETS UNITE BLACK PEOPLE OF THE WORLD!!!
I LOVE ALL AFRICANS BECAUSE I LOVE MYSELF.
Let me finish by saying; The person who goes by the moniker Inquizato needs to sit down and SHUT the f**k up because it is evident he or she doesn't know what they are talking about. What about "Italian Americans"; "Irish Americans"; and others?
Inquizato, you are a RACIST!!!!!

I don't know what you mean by "feeling"connected.I am not from Africa. My ancestors from a VERY long time ago are from Africa. There are Africans that are apart of my gene pool. That's only on certain sides of my family, there are also a good portion of ancestors from France and Native Americans.I am not from France either. The 3 generations of my family and I are American.I happen to be British and American, but I'm not familiar with Britain either. The point is the only connection I have with the country of Africa is that some of my ancestors are from there, nothing more nothing less.I believeyou have to be a bit more attached to aplace to "feel"connected.I speak for myself,I don't know about others like me.None of this affects how I treat anyone.................

Dear Congolese I am a white person, but from what I see in the news and articles I read, a black American only seems to remember his or her African heritage if they seem to be passed by some position they want. The term African-American makes little sense to me. White people came from many different places in Europe, but they do not call themselves German- Americans, British (English) Americans French-Americans ect. Blacks however seem to like to use the term, African-American even though their families have lived in this country for maybe hundreds of years. I am not saying that there are those who do not know and understand their heritage and background, but I am saying there are those who don"t know their background and use the term of African-American as a crutch, to make people feel sorry for them. I was born in America, and to me anyone born in this country is an American. Africa is a large continent, if a person can say, "I am a Congolese-American" I would have much more respect for their heritage than the simply African-American. I am sure there are those who could tell you of all their family ancestory, but I would be willing to bet that most could not.

I feel a connection to Africa. the reason i feel this way is because of my ancestory. I think some blacks are angry about the misconception that they were sold by their african ancestors. when in fact, it started out selling their enemies to the white people. white people befriended the africans and then turned on them. that pretty much sums it up.

Black persons are those continuously speaking approximately Africa and how whites further them right here and that they have got been all kings and queens there. so a techniques as i'm in touch, African people are people and we ought to continuously be recuperating usa as a exchange of desirous to hop boats lower back to Africa. EDIT: you will be happy with Africa, yet while one is residing in usa then shouldn't they have delight for that united states too as a exchange of continuously praising Africa only?

maybe their behavior to Africans was not because they were African but for other reasons. I wish everyone will feel connected, is that too much to ask?
