But I have never seen an overweight woman paired with a handsome, slim man...
10 points to the first person who can give me an example of this - the couple has to be the main couple of the film or t.v. series.

Sorry ladies, but as OhWhatCanIDo suggests, they were not a supercouple.
Edna and Norma on the other hand, from Passions.....kidding.....!!!!
Really though, my point is that Anglo-American mainstream society has allowed this double-standard that has led to far too many young women turning to unhealthy measures to be thin.
Speaking of NBC soaps again, if you've ever seen Fancy with just a bra, you know how bad "too thin" really looks!

Thank you for such a thoughtful question. The sad thing is there are a lot of women who are large AND beautiful, and in real life some men really, truly are attracted to them because they are intelligent, kind, and yes, stunning. Unfortunately the media can't fathom this...

Because it's not really a big deal if a man is fat. He can still get women to date him. But women are expected to be beautiful and shapely or thin. So people doesn't think big women can find an attractive man to date.

I guess you don't remember Patrika Darbo from Days of Our Lives? Her husband on the show was thin and handsome, and she's a large woman.
Sorry, they weren't a "main" couple.

WHAT ABOUT CRAIG{KEVIN SIRITUS} AND NANCY[PATRIKA DARBO] FROM DAYS OF OUR LIVES. THEY PLAYED CHLOE LANES PARENTS. BUT YOUR ABSOLUTELY RIGHT. THEIR IS HARDLY EVER OVER WEIGHT WOMAN SHOWN AS A COUPLE WITH ANYMAN ON TV OR MOVIES. WELL SHALLOW HAL DOESN'T REALLY COUNT BECAUSE JACK BLACK ISN'T REALLY THAT ATTRACTIVE. ALSO, HE DIDN'T KNOW GYWENETH PALTROS CHARACTER WAS FAT UNTIL THE END OF THE MOVIE.

All I can say is you are correct. I always think that it is BS when they have this gorgeous woman with some fat slob. That wouldn't happen in real life, women like that wouldn't be caught dead with some lardo.
