well.. apart from havin a good storyline.. one of the most best cards in the world... and an infinite amount of game playin.. and strategies... its an undisputed game with the worlds record of highest collected game-playable cards.
im not sayin im a fanatic.. but i certainly love the game.. rather than the cartoon.. probably bcoz of the unnumerable amount of strategies one can come up with the cards.. imagine 2000+ cards to choose to create a 40+ deck.... coz wat u draw matters the most.... personally i think it wastes ur time.. actually ive sat at work sometimes thinkin up of some card combos.... but stilll... its just a hobby...
ppl collect stamps... coins... butterflies.. bugs.. baseball cards.. etc etc... its all a hobby.. u like it .. u dont need justifications for it...

I play both Magic the Gathering and yu-gi-oh. There're some reasons that some people prefer yu-gi-oh to MTG.
1, The combat system of yu-gi-oh is different from MTG. For MTG, you can have any number of creatures blocking an attacker. For yu-gi-oh, only 1 on 1 combat is avaliable, like samurai combat in Japan.
2, Pictures of yu-gi-oh cards are more friendly to look at for kids. They are mangas instead of oil paintings.
3, Easier to pick up. The rule of MTG is too complicated.
4, Faster game speed and less thinking.
5, Some creatures of yu-gi-oh are so rare that you'd really want to have a match with your friends to see its power if you get one. While the quantity of MTG rare creatures are somehow equal.

Most people like it because it is a strategy game. I personally don't like it,but I used to like 2-3 years ago. Basically little kids like it because they watch that messed up show(Yugioh).

i've never played the game myself i just like collecting the cards i have over 200 plus all 3 god cards

mostly kids do but I think its because they think it has action.
