Pets will favor the side of their swollen mouth, often rubbing against you to get your attention. They become irritable, maybe whine something is wrong. Refuse to eat and drink. They also become very restless, unable to sleep.Their mouth becomes swollen, reddened, probably you can detect a odor also. They probably won't even open their mouth even to you.You will know something is wrong with the different behavior they show to you.

If their face swells, this can be a symptom from an infected abcessed tooth. Other things can be if they seem incomfortable eating hard food, or stop eating hard food all together. Or a really bad odor coming from their mouth, worse than normal dog breath, he also may have teeth problems. If you don't see any of these signs, but you are still concerned that your dog's teeth might be causing him pain, you can take him to the vet to get his teeth checked. They will be able to tell the condition of your dog's teeth. Good luck, i hope this helps.

The most common clinical signs of disease within the oral cavity are inappetance (loss of appetite), halatosis(or bad breath). If you feel something is not right with you pet, you should have them evaluated by your veterinarian. Usually January and February are considered Dental Awareness months and many give special discounts on dental prophylaxis during these months. And it's a good way to screen for other problems as well.

Yes!!!!!! My cat has to go to the vets for her teeth to be cleaned as she is old and needs to be helped with her dental care- I found out because she had an awful toothache due to build up of plaque and found it too painful to eat. She had the tooth removed and now is a much happier cat. We also have a special food that cleans her teeth as she eats.

They stop eating. If they have an abcess, there's a nasty odor. They will not be very excited to have you investigating in their mouth.
