What's the most recognisable symptom/significant of cats/dogs having toothaches?

Pets will favor the side of their swollen mouth,often rubbing against you to get your attention. They become irritable, maybe whine something is wrong. Refuse to eat and drink. They also become very restless, unable to sleep.Their mouth becomes swollen, reddened, probably you can detect a odor also.They probably won't even open their mouth even to you.You will know something is wrong with the different behavior they show to you.

If their face swells, this can be a symptom from an infected abcessed tooth. Other things can be if they seem incomfortable eating hard food, or stop eating hard food all together. Or a really bad odor coming from their mouth, worse than normal dog breath, he also may have teeth problems. Yes!!!!!! My cat has to go to the vets for her teeth to be cleaned as she is old and needs to be helped with her dental care- I found out because she had an awful toothache due to build up of plaque and found it too painful to eat. She had the tooth removed and now is a much happier cat. We also have a special food that cleans her teeth as she eats.
