Because they're too ignorant to realize that you're the one who should be sorry for them. You don't have to deal with viruses, they do. You don't have to deal with a bloated or corrupt registry, they do. You don't have to deal with popups telling you that the network is plugged in, now it's not, now it's back,... they do! Your system has smooth, barely noticable pre-emptive multi tasking, theirs jerks and sputters from one app to the next. Your system recognizes new hardware and begins using it, theirs makes them go through 'Wizards' and even then it doesn't always work.
Come to think of it, maybe they're just apologizing for their own stupidity.

Because, 90% + of the planet use PCs, they're assuming you have one too. Now, I'll let the statistics speak for themselves... 90%+ use PCs, and of the remaining 10%...more use Linux than Mac. What does this mean? Well firstly, their stupid I'm a mac and I'm a PC commercials are just making mac look stupider than it already is! Secondly, thirdly and fourthly...Macintosh is a company run by a group of incapacitated anorexic (all they eat are apples) morons that know nothing more than they own little world of I-life. Which by the way...I-life sucks! I have never been more confused with any software, until I started playing around in I-life. Let's try I-am an a**hole. Sorry.
Just get a PC...but don't get Vista. Not yet.

oh because
windows is what everyone makes programs for
a lot of the times programs for mac there isn't one or you have to use an old version of the program
windows are clunky and stuff
and apples are care fare and clean themselves almost auto
more people use windows so there more availability of stuff for it
but i would actually like to have a mac but one with intel so i can use windows

Because you don't have all the nifty fun they have.
- fighting of the hordes of viruses
- reinstalling every now and then
- slowdowns for no particular reason
- guessing what errorcode XXYASDF432245 means.
Isn't it boring to just look at the log and know what's wrong?
It's so much more fun to dig through piles of worthless
information just to find out it's some kind of unknown and
equally undocumented application error.

oh i am sorry. well that answer is simple Windows is and forever will be superior to mac. Linux is also better than mac and it is free. But it isnt as good as windows.
