My mothers friend had that whole coal craving thing going on too, and her closest friend actually nibbled on non toxic wax crayons from the early learning centre!! I have been told that cravings are usually your bodys way of getting you to eat what its lacking in (so not the coal...but whats in coal?) Ive been pregnant three times now but only ever had the usual cravings...i.e oranges, im guessing for the vitamin c and cheese, milk, yogurts etc, im guessing for the calcium. Im sure your wifes midwife would ahe the right answers! Goodluck to you both

My wife has craved ice the whole way this pregnancy with our son, I dont really undertstand the 'science' behind cravings but aslong as what they crave doesnt harm them or the baby then I see no problems. good luck for you both with the rest of the pregnancy
