The company is Nintendo. The name Wii actually does have some significance. While developing their new game system, Nintendo had very different goals in mind than say Xbox or Playstation. Their goal was to make a very easily accessible system for EVERYONE...not just "gamers". They needed a name that was easy to say, because across the globe, different languages some times have difficulty pronouncing certain words. The word Wii can easily be pronounced in all language across the world and also it refers -We- as in everyone. Its a system for everyone, not just the normal people who play videogames.

Yes like the rest said it dose not stand for nothing but they choose wii because of the expression Weeee like when a kid is going down a slide and yells "weeeee that was fun". It was first going to be called "Nintendo Revolution" But then they changed it to Wii. So that is why it was called and they came up with Nintendo Wii.

Also what the guy said above me "doug" is partly true as well and why the did not pick "Nintendo Revolution"

The Wii is Nintendo's next generation system. It is pronounced "we" and that's what it stands for, as in all of us that play video games. When you log into your profile page, it's the "Mii" page because it's your page.
