Do not hold your breath waiting for the total demise of mankind, even though we have the means, many times over, to destroy ourselves. Hopefully, the rationality of survival will win out.
However, if you are religious and follow the prophesy of the Bible, the End Times (not the total elimination of man) could be near for the following fulfilled and possible Bibical prophetic reasons.
1. Prophesy: Israel will be recreated in one day. Fulfillment: On May 15, 1948, Israel was the only nation ever to be created in one day (United Nation resolution).
2. Prophesy: Within a generation (could be 40, 70, or 100 years) of the new Israel's founding, the "twin towers of Babylon will come tumbling down" (Revelations). Fulfillment: 911
3. Prophesy: The Jewish Temple will be rebuilt. Fullment: They're working on the pleminaries now.
4. Prophesy: Huge battle in the Mid-East to take place in which the bodies of the enemy will disintegrate from intense heat and fire before they hit the ground. Fulfillment: We're headed for one right now; and Iran is seeking and Israel has atomic weapons.
5. If you can make a connection between the Mayan calender and assume that a Biblical generation is 70 years, ponder this. The Mayan calendar is extremely acurate, but suddenly and unexplainably ends in the year 2012. If you count 70 years from the founding of Israel, you get 2018. However, there is a six year error in our Julian calendar. Subtract 6 from 2018 and you get 2012.
Does all this mean anything? Given enough time, any prophesy will come true, just like Murphy's law, "If anything can go wrong, it will." ... so just live your life every day the best you can, and make sure our politicians protect our borders and uphold the standards that made this country the greatest place on the planet.

I don't know yet, but a human life expectancy under usual, normal conditions is somewhere between 65-100 years old... so- we as humans each have our own destined "d-day". Eternity would not be sufficient for many and days to much for some. Humanity 101

you advise Homo Sapiens -- the species. There are subject concerns concerning to our surroundings and mom nature taking returned what's belongs to her, which skill exceedingly lots blowing off homo sapiens -- biped primates strolling upright. i think of if we proceed to rape our surroundings for spangles and gleeful exciting, there is little time left; mom nature will shelter the planet by skill of wiping out Homo Sapiens. there is time nonetheless to repair a number of the wear and tear, yet, the hunt for flights into area -- severe wealth on the fee of our atmosphere, human dignity, the undesirable, etc -- it remains ruling the planet, and mom Nature is primed to make variations for the greater desirable, which skill beginning over while it includes evolutionary progression. it is accessible to stay faraway from. As for humanity, it hasn't landed yet, however the plan is to coach the landing strip. I actual think of that that's a stretch to call Homo Sapiens humane, or to designate the team as humanity. that's a comedian tale. besides, that's what's inaccurate with using the be conscious humanity linked to Homo Sapiens. One in user-friendly terms needs to envision a newspaper and be conscious the idolization of a few wolf in sheep clothing (that's on very almost each web site), basically look and notice the journalism has basically approximately disappeared from the planet in favour of marketing some ideology, the vendors, the advertisers blah blah blah. braveness is a extensive component of humanity, and it has exceedingly lots disappeared from the planet. Whimpanity could be greater like it.

Huh?
I think the BIGGEST threat is the lack of basic literacy in the Americam combined with their cultural hegemony.
Once America collapses, who knows?
Humanity could last a thousand centuries, in one form or another. We could all be dead within a hundred years. Ebola could wipe out 99.9% of us and leave the remaining sseven million or so to recover over the next millenia.

I don't know how long it will take but at the rate we are going with all our violence and destruction of natural resources we will definitely do ourselves in. And we have the power to stop it but we won't.
