Are she-males born or made? And why are so many of them of SE Asian origin?

Two of the answers given below point out that "she-male" is an offensive term. I am sorry to have used it, because I was not aware of it. In fact I was under the impression that it was the term Mtf's preferred. I did not mean to insult anyone, and I apologise if I have given offence to any individual or group.

Let's get down to basics.

Most transsexuals despise the label "shemale". Having said that, the **** industry rather likes the term, and it is considered a pejorative term for any male-to-female (MtF) transsexual who's in the sex trade.

What determines how feminine a MtF looks are a few factors. Genetics definately plays a role here. Some just have a more feminine face. There's also a lot of hard work in terms of weight, reducing total mass and muscle mass in particular. Hormones - and when they are started - play the biggest role. The earlier a boy takes estrogens, the less male his body will become. Estrogens do a lot more than make curves and breasts; they also limit growth and decrease muscle mass and strength.

So to answer your first question, the short answer is that these person feel they were born in the wrong bodies, and have reshaped themselves to fit the mold their mind believes they should.

As to the second question... There are a few factors which impact on the number of Southeast Asian transsexuals. First off, most hormones are available both cheaply and without a prescription, often in the form of birth control pills. Religion also affects their freedom to change; most of these countries are predominantly Buddhist, which teaches that the physical is transitory and change is to be expected.

There's no overwhelming majority of transsexuals from a certain ethnic, national, socioeconomic, or other background.

The term shemale refers to transwomen (male-to-female transgender or transsexual people) who typically have breasts of an adult female (through hormone replacement therapy and/or through breast augmentation), and who usually have other female secondary sex characteristics, but who have not undergone genital reassignment surgery.

However, other transwomen never undergo genital reassignment surgery even if they can afford it, or come to accept their genitalia, because they consider the surgery to be unnecessary for their individual gender transition. Some transwomen have said they prefer the genitalia with which they were born[citation needed].

The term "shemale" (along with tranny, ladyboy and "chick with a dickk") is commonly, but not exclusively, used in pornography and the sex industry; videos and magazines involving such people are a common sub-genre of pornography. It is often seen by transsexual people as a powerful term of abuse.

Many transwomen are offended by this term for one or more of the following reasons:

because of the association with the sex industry, like pornography, escorting, and sex party scenes,
because many transwomen who have not undergone genital reassignment surgery want it and/or
because their gender identity is female, not "male," nor do they feel they are only "half-female."

being transgender is a genetic abnomially...It happens when there is no clear definition of the XX or XY chromosome....Somtimes there is a abnomimally which produces a XXY gender person...Seems this genetic occurance happens more often than once believed,,It is a practice in USA to decided on gender at birth and alot of the children just get assigned a sex...
