It could be climate change if you live in a cold weather climate and are going to a lot warmer area your body just might have a little bit of climate shock. Don't listen to all those stupid people who say don't drink the water cause I know most of the restraunts and resorts when you ask for water they atomatically bring you bottled water right there along with a cup of ice. My mother and her husband live there in an upscale area and so I have been there many times and have never gotten sick except if I have partied to hard. I got sick 1 time flying back home and that was just a cold I got and I probably got that cause it was around febuary and I went back to the cold weather in the pacific northwest. Most of these other people giving you these dumb answers of don't drink the water have probably never been to the resort towns in Mexico or if they have it has been years, cause years ago you did have to tell them filter water but that has been a long time now. Actually my first time to a resort town was about 20 years ago so I remember how some things where. Maybe before you go next time go talk to the doctor and get a tetnus shot if it has been a long time. Go and enjoy your next trip.

Sick how?
If you get what is known as "tourista" (travellers diarrhea) then you can get that anywhere, not just cabo. It is easily prevented by eating 1 pot of yogurt a day. Also wash your hands often, especially after handling money. Don't eat re-fried foods - they don't change the cooking oil as often as we do, drink from bottles only, try to avoid tap water and ice cubes.
If you are talking about getting a respiratory sickness (sore throat, cough, irritated lungs) then that often occurs after storm seasons when the raw sewer is usually tossed back up on the beaches and then it dries, the winds whip it up and we breathe the bacteria in. The locals are immune to it, but it often affects the tourists.
Using basic preventative measures to avoid bad bacterias will help you have a healthy and safe holiday.
