My brother's about to go on a piano performance, but his fingernails are just bad. Any ways to drive him of this habit?

This question really caught my attention seeing as I have JUST quit biting my fingernails (about 2 weeks ago), after biting them for 7 years straight. I had tried everything, ranging from being bribed (up to $1,000) <-- that's how bad it was, I also tried tobasco sauce on my finger nails, and even tried putting ethanol on my fingernails so the taste was awful, and the results were I failed being bribed, I licked the tobasco sauce off, and yes, disgusting as it may sound..I even licked the ethanol off (after washing off as much of it as I could, It was still repulsive).
And now for the answer: I suggest you find out if he WANTS to quit, if he doesn't want to quit, you don't stand a chance at getting him to stop, it's just about as difficult as trying to ask a heroin addict to please stop taking heroin. Not gonna happen. If he does want to quit, but bites them subconciousally consider having him put a dot on each finger nail with a marker and when he starts to bite them he'll see the dot and remember not to bite them. Go to Walgreens or any grocery store with cosmetics. By the nail polish is some clear stuff you put on your nails that tastes like total crap. I am not kidding. If you accidently pick something out of your tooth, you wont again! There are several different kinds to choose from. If you cant find it, ask someone who works there. Good Luck!!!

I am still trying to stop biting mine, but am actually doing pretty well. My orthodontist told me that I had to stop biting my nails in order for braces to worrk correctly, which is why I got serious about stopping. Try starting with one hand and gradually add another finger here and there. The clear nailpolish that tastes bad it supposed to work really well, but I have never tried it.

Hey! I know how your Bro Feels i have the same Nail biting problem what you need to do is go down to a local drug store and look in the nail section and buy liquid anti nailbiting stuff put it on everyday and your Bro will Be NailBiting Free I PromiSE!

The only way he will be able to quit is if HE sets his mind to it and decides that he doesnt want to do that anymore. Thats the only thing that worked for me but when I get nervous I still bite them.

take a sharpie or marker and color in ur nails..when u bite they will taste bad..forcing u to stop this habit..also they are easy to wash off in time for ur piano performance

Purchase anti nail biting finger polish..After applying this you wont bite your nails anymore its a nasty tasting solution..I dont bite my nails two years after using this..

OK, here's what you want to do. First, get some itching powder and sprinkle some in his underwear. Now, let him scratch his butt as much as he wants, but don't let him wash his hands. He won't want to stick his fingers in his mouth ever again. I know, I'm a genius.

nail his hands to a sheet of plywood and then soak him in gasoline and light him on fire. That should stop the habit

Put pepper on them, or you could cut off his fingers and he can play with his nose. But pepper works goodm it stopped ny daughter from bitting her nails.
