This is really an unfair question to ask, and the reason for that is John Cena wrestles singles, while DX wrestles in tag team matches. However that being said, while it is true that anything can happen on any particular night, generally speaking more often I would say that John Cena is better than either HBK or Triple H, both DX members, and the reason why is because both DX members are considerably older than John Cena, and therefore slower. Also, both DX members are not as strong as John Cena.

While I enjoy watching both DX and John Cena, I think DX is more entertaining to watch than John Cena. It sucks that Triple H is gonna be out for awhile though, he and Shawn Michaels make a really good team.

Even the current DX, which 1) is watered down/not as controversial and 2) getting up there in years is way better than Cena. Only once in a blue moon does Cena do a good promo, and even though they are showing the wear and tear of age, HBK and HHH still do more in the ring than Cena does.
