It's a bit early for me to test. Haven't missed my period yet. But missed a couple of my BC pills and worried. Think it's a false positive?

I realize you're not supposed to read the results after 10 minutes. That's why I wondered if it has happened to anyone before and they've actually been pregnant.

It should say somewhere on the instructions not to read the results after 10 minutes

Check out peeonastick.com. If you read after the allotted time, the results aren't accurate...it's not even considered a false positive since the time window when accurate results are displayed with most tests is 3-10 minutes. Test again a few days later and ONLY look during the correct time. If it takes longer than about 3 minutes to show up, it is probably an evaporation line on the spot of the chemicals, not a reaction to hcg in your urine. I've had it happen to me a couple times, and peeonastick.com has a very important section about this situation.

Yes, it's a "false positive", in the sense that nearly all HPTs will turn to positive after the test period is over. If it wasn't positive in 3-5 minutes, or whatever the instructions say, you're not pregnant.

No, however the reason they advise your no longer examine the try after the ten minute mark is by technique of the fact an exceptionally faint evaporation line can look, and is in lots of situations incorrect for an excellent, while certainly this isn't any longer one. If a try is a 'actual effective', the line often is the splendid colour and look very quickly-- with in the 1st 10 minutes. After the ten minutes are up without line having appeared, it is seen a damaging. Any line that looks after the ten minutes is an evaportation line and not an excellent result.

Usually if it is going to be postive the test will show positive after 3 minutes. After 10 minutes every pregnacy test I have ever had showed up positve just by the chemical make up. MY best advice is to wait until the missed period and then retest. Hope ths helps

YOU'RE NOT SUPPOSED TO READ IT AFTER 10 MINUTES!! READ THE INSTRUCTIONS. But another thing on your birth control pills is you need to consider where at on your bc's you missed. the first week has the highest amount of hormones and then it down grades, and the last week is placebos I believe. But even if you miss a day or two, continue to take them. I was in the habit of forgetting to take mine as well, so I ended up taking a shot once a month. Just keep on taking them and explore some other options or some other pills you can take not everyday.

I once read the whole instruction manual of a pregnancy test, and I recall there being a note about the possibility of the test turning positive after a certain amount of minutes. Like you shouldn't wait more than "x" amount of minutes to read your test. Check out your manual to see if there is mention of this.
From my experience, positive pregnancy tests show up positive almost immediately (I watched two as they appeared! My two boys.)
Good luck to you.

Most tests turn positive after 10 minutes because of evaporative lines. They show up where a positive line would be.

The positive line after ten minutes is an evap line...yes, i have had this happen and i was not pg. However, if you are concerned, wait a week and test again, first morning urine, to ensure that you really aren't pregnant.

Any pink is pink, weather 5 mins or 10 mins. If your super eary to test sometimes it'll show very faintly after some time passes. Test again in the morning with your very first urine. It'll be the strongest and you'll know for sure then.

Make sure your seeing pink tho, not jsut a scratch mark!

Best of luck!
