There are federal and state regulations. I suggest that you read the info provided at the following site:

I copied and pasted this for you from the site below:
Colorado law prohibits the taking, hunting, or possession of animals deemed property of the state or wildlife taken in violation of state, federal, or non-U.S. law (including bald and golden eagles), resulting in a misdemeanor with up to one year in jail and fines. Further, there is an additional penalty for the taking of "big game" species. It is also ILLEGAL to have in one's possession any NONNATIVE OR EXOTIC species.

In Colorado, you have severe winters to deal with, so most of the animals of African origin that I was thinking of wouldn't be too great. Ostriches are out too, since I don't think they could take the cold. Some good candidates might be creatures like Yaks or Llamas or Alpacas. If you could find a mating pair, the Yeti might be good for a laugh. I can imagine the signs you could post along the highway for people to be careful not to hit your Yetis. You should get a book from a local library (I know it is remote from your other post) about animals and see which ones can tollerate the change of seasons you have. You might find some really cool ones.
