I agree that you work hard and that you do some amazing gymnastics, but it's not a sport- it's a competition. a very difficult, inspiring, and demanding one, but a competition nonetheless.

Before you answer this question, you have to define sport. And that is not an easy thing to do.
Many people work hard. If I go to the gym five days a week and work out on the treadmill, I am working hard, but you probably wouldn't call that a sport.
I will give you my definition of a sport, but it is not perfect and I am not 100% satisifed with it: A sport is something that requires physical conditioning, and involves competitive strategy against your opponent.
By my definition, my working out in a gym is not a sport because there is no competitive strategy. Neither is cheerleading.

I think cheerleading is definitely a sport. Maybe 20 years ago it wasn't cause they barely broke a sweat standing on the sidelines, and leading the pep rallys. But these days we work harder than a lot of the sports. Every person that says its not a sport haven't watched a competition or a practice. At most schools the games are just something we have to do in order to be a high school cheer squad. The real part comes when we go to competitions. I mean we need to be in the same shape as track runners, instead of lifting weights like wrestling we lift people! Unlike football, we can't wear pads and helmets in case we get dropped or fallen on. Flyers lives are in the hands of their bases (literally)! We tumble just like gymnasts except normally we don't have a spring floor to do it on, we get a thin mat on top of the asphalt or cement. We compete against other squads just like any other team. We even have National Championships and Worlds. And one day I have no doubt Competitive Cheerleading will be added into the Olympics. We work just as hard (maybe even harder) than any other sport.

Cheerleading is a vigorous physical activity. Cheerleaders work just as hard as many other athletes.
However, cheerleading is not a sport.

I think cheerleading is so a sport!! I may not be doing it, but its still a sport. They work hard, and still have to do all the workouts like other sports.

I wouldn't consider it a sport, but if bodybuilding, which requires no athletic ability at all, is considered a sport, then cheerleading probably should be as well.

To me cheer leading is not a sport. Rather, it is supportive of the sports. It helps to enrich the whole sports scene. To be a sport there must be a plan, strategies, a goal, a game, points, rules, etc., etc.

ROFL, you wish. There is no way you work harder than those bb or football players. Not even close girl !! You wouldn't last through one single football practice. It's not a sport either.
