I have a 10 year old SUV, and this morning the car won't start. Engine cranks out ok, but it is not starting. Never had this problem before. The car started out once this AM so that I was able to take the car out of the garage, but it soon stalled out. I changed the battery, but it did not improve the situation. Anybody know the problem? Is it a starter? If it is a starter, how come my car stalled as soon as I started the car this AM? NOw the car won't start at all. It just cranks out. Any help will be appreciated.

Just want to clarify that it is 1997 Ford explorer V6 SOHC. It has been a while since my last tune up. It has always been reliable up to today. Anybody has any idea how much it would cost to fix it?

Sounds like a spark problem. When was the last full tune up? (spark plugs, wires, filters)

O.K.
1. If the vehicle is cranking...you don't need a starter.
2. If the vehicle was cranking, you just waisted $$ on a battery.
3. Is the vehicle getting fuel to the engine?
4. Does the engine have spark?
5. Are you able to tell us what it is your driving, and what make it
is, and what engine it has?
We are waiting your reply. With out this basic info...you may be into a tow.

Sorry to be blunt. Info, info, info.

O.K. Spanky.
This model has had a history with the crank and cam sensors. To save you the big buck, IE: throwing non-needed parts at the truck...TAKE IT TO A QUALIFIED TECH. This person will be able to scan and check values on certain items to VERIFY what part is needed. Save a buck, do it right.

Oh, have you been hearing a irritating chirping from the engine lately, and I don't mean belts.

Need to know other factors. Is it a GM? Ford?Dodge?
Many problems have been reported with the GM 4.3 Vortec.
Without knowing specifics I cant help you much but I can give you pointers!
Check the oil and smell it! Sounds crazy yes but if it smells like raw Gasoline then you have a problem and shouldn't try to run vehicle at all. Gasoline has thinned out your oil and you will blow her up! It could be a cracked injector, or even a cracked intake! I can speculate all day but need information to really help

it sounds like you flooded the car with gas. let it sit over nite, then in the morning put the gas pedal all the way to the floor and hold it there while you are cranking the car. don't let off of it until the motor sounds like it will stay running by itself. give it some gas if it sounds like it will kill but just enough to keep it running.

if that doesn't start the car, you will need to take the plugs out and either dry them of all the gas or replace them.

you either new spark plugs with wires, or a new alternator with voltage regulator, or your starter is going. Better off having the it looked at a mechanic.

first thing, check the spark at the plugs.if you got good spark then check the gas filter and run a test on the fuel pump.if you got no spark, then check the plugs, wires, the coil pack and module.
