It probably was. I take essential fatty acids, but I also eat walnuts in my cereal every day and when I eat cereal I eat cherios or a cereal like it. I also take raw apple cider vinegar before dinner. I started out with a cholesterol level of 226. It went to 201 when I got on thyroid meds. I got it a lot lower with the cereal, nuts, and essential fatty acids. It is now 167. I do walk about 10 miles a week too, but I did this before the nuts, cereal, and ACV and my cholesterol didn't budge, so I have to credit the dietary changes. If at all possible....stay away from cholesterol lowering meds. They have many side effects and as long as your cholesterol is on its way down you should be fine.

Fish oil pills, while of benefit in other ways, did not lower your cholesterol.
Is it possible that you ate something high in cholesterol before the first test, thereby raising the cholesterol in your blood stream. Then, didn't eat before the second test? Just a brain storming thought.

Umm--could be! Another thing that will lower cholesterol is Niacin (500 mg. 3 times daily). Be sure to have Ibupropen--you'll need to take it at least 1/2 hour before the Niacin--as you will get flushes (that feel like a really bad sunburn all over your body), and the Ibupropen will help.
For a reason that I can't recall, the Niacin that says it won't cause flushing is not good for us. Also, when you start Niacin, take only 1/2 pill 3 times a day (and you'll still burn). It doesn't last long--it's the starting taking it that hurts the most--but for most people, it works!

. No it doesn't. What it does is it improves the ratio of "good cholesterol" to "bad cholesterol". When it comes to protecting cardiovascular health, raising our levels of good cholesterol is more important than lowering the bad cholesterol. As it turns out, simply lowering our bad cholesterol levels does not provide enough protection from cardiovascular diseases. You have to have high levels of good cholesterol. And Omega 3 fish oil has a positive impact on raising our levels of good cholesterol. Of course, lowering our bad cholesterol will make sense too. I hope you could find a way to make yourself remember. You could have it programmed in your alarm clock, in your celfone's appointment scheduler, etc. .

Fish oil is taken for the omega-3 vitamin benefit, I've never heard of it being used for lowering cholesterol. Maybe you ate less fatty foods and eggs in that time period.

Don;t look at the total number on your cholestrol and freak out.
I have a very high number in total cholestrol above 230; but my doctor told me I have nothing to worry about because I have an extremely good ratio of HDL to LDL cholestrol.
a lot of cholestrol is produced by the liver, and this is from heridity and there is nothing you can do about that.
Let's find out your cholestrol number, then act accordingly. Be sure to ask your doctor about your ratio of HDL to LDL.
