I spotted a lot the first trimester. Everything turned out fine. Anytime I was examined, before, during and after pregnancy I spotted too. Just watch out for bleeding. The previous poster is not correct about getting your period when pregnant. That is impossible as a period is the disposal of the unused egg and uterus lining. Some women do have regular bleeding but it needs to be reported to your OB because it could indicate a problem.

It really is common to have bleeding and spotting in early pregnancy. I had some bleeding early on, got checked out at the doc's, and it turned out to be a small bleed from the placenta which is nothing to worry about. I had a second bleed which was a ton of blood (enough to gush down my legs, yuck), went straight to the ER and even that was fine (got a blood clot behind the placenta which dislodged). So, these things seem really scary but if the U/S doesn't show any problems than it's probably okay to take a deep breath and try to relax about it.

I had pinkish then brownish spotting at six weeks and went to the ER they also did an ultrasound and everthing was fine. They told me unless you have severe cramps and bleeding that fills a pad in an hours time not to worry. Although I know its easier said then done. Alot of people on here will tell you "run to the ER" or "you are misscarrying" dont let them scare you. Every one is different but based on my experience I would try not to worry. Worrying isnt good for that growing baby. Best of luck! :)

I did as well in my first trimester of my pregnancy and I went to the doctors and they told me that it was normal. At the early stages sometimes you can have a bruise and that will make you spot that was my prob. BEST WISHES CONGRATS!!!
