Some states require parents to have a certain level of degree, lesson plans, tests, and portfolios to be filed. Students may also be able to participate in electives and extra-curricular activities if you want them to. Each state/district is different, though, and some have little/no requirements, so it's best to check with your school district for the requirements. Most have a handbook ready to share with any parent who asks, but they won't usually share textbooks, so there is a lot you need to learn about homeschooling before you start.

You do not need a degree to homeschool your children but each state has an educational standard and certain expectations which you are required to fulfill. That is the children are expected to pass certain tests. You will want to check with your school district and network with other homeschoolers in your area.
There are websites just for that with lots of ideas for making your efforts a success.
Best to you.

I would start with your own school district to make sure you don't already have a home school coordinator, nothing like reinventing the wheel. If you do not have one in place call your state capital state education program and find the closest one to you. Once you have that contact person make sure you bond well with them they make your life that much easier.
There is some on line information too.
The best teacher your child has is you go to there level and build a great mind. Best wishes to you!
