it all depends on where you look and what kind of dress. i know sometimes (maybe not in the winter) TJ Maxx has beautiful dresses. a friend bought me this dress i fell in love with there for winter formal and it was only around $30. marked off from some EXTREMELY expensive price. and its one of the most beautiful dresses i think ive ever seen. so good cheap ones are out there. just look

It depends on what you want. Set a budget. Probably around $100 is a good start, but that's not including anything else, i.e., shoes, hair, etc.

Any dress that you would wear to church would be perfectly suitable. So, if you have one that you only wear to church, just wear that one.

there's lots of places to go to.. you don't need to go to a fancy place to get it. try macys, nordstrom, wetseal, forever21... good luck!
