Wearing a suit and tie shows the people that you meet that you care enough to look your best when you deal with them. You will look more professional.

You do not need to have a bunch of suits; a few different shirt and tie combinations can make a dark blue suit and a gray suit look like several. Take the time to polish you leather shoes too; a messed up pair of shoes will make you look like a bum no matter how expensive your suit.
