I opened the door.

My parents were relieved because they had been looking for me for hours and thought I'd wandered off.

OH You meant "come out as gay" !! LOL

Silly me!!

Um, I kind of came out a bit sideways...and I stumbled the entire way.

My parents knew WAY before I actually accepted it.
I didn't want to be gay, I didn't want to be disliked or teased or socially ostracized. I did everything I could think of to "not be" gay. I dated boys in school. I prayed really hard and even tried the whole "born again" route. Failing that I became very sexually promiscuous and slept with many guys, eventually I actually married and had a child....all in an effort to not be gay.

It didn't work. None of it.

I always knew I was, it was just a matter of time and personal acceptance.
Once I finally did, my parents were waiting for me with open arms.
Hmmm...now that I think about it....my first description wasn't all that far off!

I didn't actually come out, so much as get thrown out....they knew because my girlfriend at the time was slightly more masculine than normal, and they just kind of knew when she was the only person that I wanted to hang out with and have stay over or stay at her house....my dad didn't talk to me for about 6 months, but my mom was really great about the whole thing.

My parents had both died by the time I came out. My dad died when I was real young, my mother when I was about 20. For me to come out I needed to have a lot of theoretical knowledge beforehand and even then it was difficult. What helped the most was meeting actual gay guys and realizing they were a lot more fun to be around than str8 guys who spend about 90 % of their time proving they are str8, thats kinda boring actually. Gay guys just go with it and have fun, good times, laughs, partying, its a ton better than watching car races and talking about chicks.

Well...with mom it has been like yhis:
"mom...did u see that guy that has just left my room?well he's my boyfriend!yes,u got a gay-son!"
after some minutes of silence she looked at me and said:
"No probs with that...but I thought that u had better Tastes..."
My dad still doesn't know..it's because of my mom...she doesn't want me to talk for now...but he is the only one of my family that doesn't know my "condition"...

My parents were, surprisingly, ok with it. I thought they would be very mad but my mom said she would love me no matter what and my dad just asked "Are you sure?" and said that he would not support me having kids, which is disappointing but much better than him yelling at me and calling me a dy ke, which is what I thought he would do.

One day I just decided I didn't want to hide it anymore.
With everyone else, I just sorta told them when they asked, and then it got around to everyone else. I also started wearing gay pride things, which pretty much told everyone.
When I told my mom, she was fine and just said she loved me. With my dad, he totally rejected me and still doesn't talk to me, it's been about a year.
