The Jaguar is much classier.

Because the resale value of the Jaguar is always lower than the Mercedes, it shows that the owner has true wealth, and does not care about reselling the car.

Mercedes are so common on the streets. I've seen Mercedes being used as taxi cabs in France.

These are all opinions, of course.

As far as appearance, definitely the Jags, the Mercs are just soooooo common. You can't drive for 20 minutes without seeing an S-class, while the Jags are often overlooked for the more popular Mercedes.

Mercedes definitely wins for well-appointed and comfortable interior, though.

I say skip the Jag and the Mercedes S-class and get a CL55 (or even a CL65) AMG. Talk about an incredible, classy looking car. The CL65 makes something like 705 ft-lbs of torque! The CL-class is a rare and beautiful vehicle.

If you want sporty/classy, Mercedes' SL-class or Jaguar's XK are great choices.

All these people talking about electrical issues, Mercedes is at the bottom of most customer satisfaction surveys, largely because of their frequent electrical problems.

You are going to have some kind of problem from any car you buy, from any maker. It's just a matter of what you're willing to put up with.

different than the X form i do no longer think of ok has any journey with a Jaguar geared up via fact the early 90s. That mentioned, I observe that i'm getting lots greater know and lots greater looks in my XJR than I do my S classification Mercedes. I additionally get decrease off greater in site visitors and individuals try me at lights and on the line in the S classification. the present XJ physique form looks lots like a bloated mockery of its former self, so in that know, i do no longer think of styling between the two bears lots distinction. I get excitement from the hot S classification styling for what that's, yet i think of that's attempting too troublesome to attraction to a youthful aim industry. Mercedes are trouble-free. you spot them everywhere and that they are taken with no attention. Jaguars are on the fringe of being unique via fact there are uncommon. So for sophistication I say the Jaguar, yet only the XJ saloons in comparison to S classification sedans. no person thinks classification while they see a C classification coming besides. Meow. BMW has styling issues of their chief dressmaker Chris Bangle and function lost their way, getting in a similar direction as Jaguar with the amorphous blob look with fancy grille and back lights for id. I by no skill seen BMWs as being elegant. overall performance orientated definite, yet no longer opulent.

Interesting question. I drive and prefer Mercedes over Jaguar. I think people buy Jaguar because they do not want a Mercedes. My experience with Jaguar is not a happy one, littered with electrical problems and lots of garage time. The ride in a Jaguar was nice but the ride in the Mercedes is also nice. But when things come down to it a Mercedes is a Mercedes but a Jaguar is a Ford. I very good Ford but still a Ford with a nice name.

Mercedes. More expensive by a margin, they tend to consistently rate and rank higher in car magazines, which tends to influence some buyers. Additionally, Jaguar fell on some bad times in reliability prior to being sold to Ford, which unfortunately left an lasting impression that they were less classy for some time. That has improved, but impressions do last awhile. Also, measuring prestige sometimes is simply a matter of which costs more, which thereby announces that your car is higher up the money chain! Mercedes also tends to not depreciate as quickly as Jaguars.

Jaguar XJs definitely. It shows a modicrum of individuality and definitely in a woman's eyes classier and more prestigious. Saying you've got a Jag sounds a lot better than you've got a Merc - because let's face it who hasn't got one?

Never buy a British vehicle or motorcycle unless there is a mechanic in the home. Learned the hard way.
New Mercedes have quality problems they learned from Chrysler. Used ones ok to 1994 avoid diesels after 1985.

Mercedes S500 is OK but a S600 will knock your socks off. I would rather see my car in my garage as apposed to the Jag in the repair shop. Also Jags are delicate more for a woman.
