I am usually able to play a burned cd from a computer on my DVD player but lately it just reads and rejects it. The CD-R will play on any other CD player as well as my new DVD-recorder. The older DVD machine is from 2003. I've already cleaned it and I've used other discs on it made the same way with the same result.

The link below has an amazing amount of information about DVD players. Just put in your model and it will tell you with which media your player is compatible.

Might be time for a new one then.

I had the same problem. I bought the Sony DRU 830-A, 18X DVD drive with +R DL (reads dual layer disks), +/- RW, with RAM for $47 on internet cheaper than the store. ANd better than the one I had from 3 years ago.

So shell out the duckies for a new one, if I were you.
