Strange question, but i have a 'dressing up day' at school and need to be dressed as though i'm from either 1950 or 1960.

I think tank tops were originally popular in the 1920's.

For the 1950's you could go for the Teddy Boy look (long jacket, very tight trousers and very pointed shoes) or the Beatnik look (heavy woolen jumper, jeans, heavy black framed specs and if possible, a scraggy beard and long hair). The Beatniks hung about in coffee bars and were into traditional jazz. For the girls it would be very tight skirts, very tight jumpers (to accentuate their shape) and pointed high heel shoes.

For the 1960's it could be black nylon polo neck, with a collarless jacket, flared trousers and Cuban heel boots with elasticated sides. The girls would have really short skirts or dresses, usually worn with white tights and long boots.

That brought back memories. Thanks for the question.
