1. Put pics online and self promote through email, adverts, & business cards.
2. Get your professional portfolio together and bring it to every gallery you know. This can include your CV with a covering letter, slides, photos of your work, burned cds, video -any presentable documentation of your work.
3. Apply & submit your work to juried art shows. Find these in the back of art magazines. This not only gets you seen but if you win you've got an award (sometimes cash), more for your CV, and sometimes the organization will buy the work!
4. Apply for grants for your projects. Anything can be considered as an art project (even research) for orgs like Arts Councils. But talk to someone before you apply to review your idea and to understand all the rules.
You will need to talk to a lot of people. Be ready for rejection. You can expect a hit out of every 10!!!
This is being self-employed, you do your own promoting until/unless you're lucky enough to get a gallery to do it for you (no matter what sort of art you make). It's hard work but can be fun and the rewards are well-earned!

Exhibit your work in art shows or arts and craft shows. Put a fair price on your paintings and work on a painting at the show. People love to watch an artist at work and will gather around you. The longer you have their attention, the more likely they will buy or want you to paint their portrait.
