Forgiving for me is the only way to move on & have some peace & serenity. If you hold a grudge & never forgive whatever the offense it can haunt you & mess with your mental & physical wel being for the rest of your life. Forgiving does not mean Forgetting. You can do one without the other. And it also does not mean that you must have a relationship with the person you forgave unless you feel comfortable doing so. But to release yourself from damaging effects that can result from holding on to bad feelings & grudges it is best to come to terms with whatever happened, forgive the person(s) & move on to a better life. Good Luck!

I was told one time by a high ranking official of the Catholic Church, that only God can forgive. The most that any person can hope for is to be able to forget and move on. People cannot forgive a sin committed against God and his son.

Decide if the offense is forgivable. If someone kicked my dog, that'd be an unforgivable offense (and it'd get them put in the emergency room). We all could probably use a little more info with the issue at hand.

forgiveness is not holding a grudge, doesnt necessarily mean you have to give them a chance to do it again
