If you are homophobic, it probably is not your fault. You can't help how you feel. And if you are that doesn't mean you have to be mean to homosexuals.

That is a very prefreshing thought, it's too bad that nobody else has to act like gay people are lepors. I used to feel that homosexuality was wrong but I met some really nice people that are now some of my closest and dearest friends and I have had a change of heart. I just wish all of the other people that disagree with homosexuality ready this and take your way of thinking to heart.

Congradulations on your wonderfully mature and kind way of thinking.

Well, we're using an adjective. I like to make a semantic distinction (that, so far as I know, I'm the only one who thinks about it this way) where a homophobe is a person who is homophobic, holds those attitudes, and has no desire to learn anything different. That said, there are people who might hold some attitudes, but are mostly just the product of a homophobic society / upbringing who would be more than happy to find themselves corrected, and would be willing to learn. These people still do homophobic things, and could be described, at times, with the adjective "homophobic", but I wouldn't call them homophobes necessarily (in the sense detailed above). I tend to notice that the people I would call a homophobe are not the people who will admit to being homophobic. Usually.

I'm a straight married woman and I'm the opposite of homophobic. I've had close gay friends for many years. I think I've done alot to change my non-gay friends, family members, husband and all their friends to be more accepting of gay people. Either they've truly been able to accept gay people or they just don't say anything homophobic around me cuz they know I'd blow my sh*t apart.
