Why did Bill Haley urge youngsters to "rock around the clock"?

I don't know, but I'm in middle school, and for our final grade in music class, we have to play Rockin' Around the Clock on the piano.

It's pretty much the same as rocking all night. It similar to Rock All Night by Kiss.
