I do as well. Sometimes. Really depends if I have it to give, and if I honestly think the person is truly homeless. I know there is no real way to tell. But a lot of times when u just give them money they will spend it on alcohol or drugs.... if they r really homeless food would be what it's spent on.
The times when i do give them money is when i see them diggin in trash cans, i can't stand to see anyone do that.

If it's someone who reeks of booze or has meth scabs all over there face then no. But on my route to work, there are a couple of homeless young people that I give food to. But usually not money, you never know what kind of drug habit your supporting.

Yes, I took a bag lady home once. It was quite an experience for me and my family. I don't think it meant that much to her. I observed over the week she stayed with us that she didn't want to help herself. She didn't want to get state help or get a job. I'm sure she had some mental illness. There was no way to help her. She wouldn't go along with anything we suggested. She wanted us to take care of her and her to do nothing in return. Only God can help some of these poor souls.

No - unfortunately, it's impossible to tell if they are truly needy or just begging for drug money. I have, however, gone to a drive through at McD's or such, bought a meal, and taken that back to them.

I do and I am sure much of the time the money is spent on booze but if that eases their pain then that's cool. Who am I to judge.

If I have some money in my pocket that I don't need, then sometimes. Bad as it sounds, it depends on the mood I am in.
If it means opening my purse/reaching into my wallet/being detained long enough for them to attack or rob me... then no. I won't take the risk.

Just alittle bit. I generally buy them food and when it gets colder out I also give throw blankets, mittens, scarfs and hats. Its surprising how many wear them

Depends. If they look scary or dangerous, no. If I have some extra money, I might give them a buck or two.
