Hi

Ok , first , you need to install the modem drivers FIRST , BEFORE YOU EVEN install AOL , now , to make a test to see if the modem is working open control panel and then select phones and modems then select the modem tab then select your modem and hit properties then choose the diagnostic tab there it sould be a bottom label , QUERY MODEM , if some info appears on the screen it means that the modem is working THEN install AOL

Go to Control Panel > System > Hardware > Device Manager and see if it lists your modem and if there's a yellow question mark over it. If it's there, double-click on it and see that it says it's enabled and working properly. If it is, reinstall AOL; if not, then it isn't an AOL problem but a hardware or Windows problem.
