brownish color in your discharge is usually a sign of old blood mixing with natural discharge. Discharge will naturally increase with pregnancy and can be a lot or a little, every woman and every pregnancy is different. Old blood can be from sex, a little bumpy bumpy of the cervix will bleed it a little.

A lot of discharge is normal when pregnant. A lot of mucus after 37 weeks is usually your mucus plug. However, you should call your doctor if you're not yet at 37 weeks and you notice an increase in discharge or a change in the type of discharge (if it becomes watery, mucus-like, or bloody — even if it's just tinged with pink or brownish old blood). This can be a sign of preterm labor.

The brown discharge that you are describing could be oxidized blood (old blood) which generally means the bleeding has stopped and should not be much cause to worry. I know with my first pregnancy, I had brown discharge and the OB told me it was old blood and not to worry. Call if you're concerned now (they get paid to take calls when you're concerned) so you can have peace of mind. Discharge will increase as the pregnancy progresses however if you're seeing a huge increase all of a sudden, you may want to call. Additionally, if the discharge becomes really thin or watery, you need to call right away. Definately call if the discharge becomes bright red, or you're experiencing cramping or frequent braxton-hicks contractions

I had a lot of discharge when I was pregnant. It was always white. I never thought it was a problem because of the color and my baby turned out perfect. I think you're smart for seeing the doctor though. He/She will assure you if it is a problem or not. I remember my doctor saying a small amount of blood like you're having was usually no problem. It might be from having sex.

Never had a brown discharge before.....it shouldn't have an odor and if it does it might be an infection or something. Just be sure to ask the DR.

You do not have to wait until Monday to call your doctor. You can call today and page the doctor on call. You need to find out about this. When I had a similar problem, my mucus plug was coming out. If you aren't even 6 months yet, this is not good! Call today, do not wait, ask to page the doctor on call with your question.
