If your machine is finishing the wash cycle. ie wash/rinse/spin then you have no need to worry. Its probably the ambient temperature being so low at the moment that your boiler cannot heat it quickly enough for the machine to take hot water. Your machine has an internal heater, which heats the water to the correct temperature. The machine uses the internal heater regardless. This is for accuracy and of course safety. If the heater was faulty the machine would not get to the correct temperature. If the correct temperature is not reached within a certain timescale then most modern machines will display an error code. Older machines will just wash continuously because the thermostat will not have triggered the next part of the cycle. Sorry for the long winded answer, but my advice: wait until the weather warms up.

the solenoid which switches between hot, cold, and warm has malfunctioned / stuck. It is also possible the screen at the water inlet hose is plugged. This solenoid is basically an electro magnet and can be checked. UN PLUG the machine. access the solenoid (usually where the water pipes hook up.) Un hook the electrical leads and read the coils with an ohm meeter. The resistance of a good coil will be very low. These things are readily available at most service centers and some hardware stores. You will need the model and ser numbers.

Possibly the solenoid valves that admit the water were stuck, or the controller has failed. Solenoid valves rarely fail, but it could happen, especially if your water is hard.

you wil most likely need the repair man, one thing you could do is turn off the valves, disconnect the hoses and be sure nothing is cloging the little screens that are sometimes there, good luck
